We're HERE :)

Hi Friends--
We have arrived in Wilmington...FINALLY! It seems as if we have been planning this move for months, well, I guess we have. Today, reality strikes! We left New York yesterday after closing on the house and travelled as far as Fredericksburg, VA where we stayed last night. We left there at 9:00am and arrived in Wilmington around 2:30 this afternoon.

We were greeted by the Vernon family with signs that said "Welcome to your new home" and "Welcome to Wilmington"... It was nice to actually unpack the van and start to get settled. Our moving van has not arrived yet, hopefully by Friday everything will be here. Mark is working on a plan to get our furniture up the 3 flights of stairs, he called around today to see if a rental company might bring in a "lift". He's already building "bridges" :)

Tonight we had dinner at the Vernons with the core team, the 5 families that have moved here to help start CROSSWINDS CHURCH. We again shared our stories and got to know each other better. God is so GOOD, and has uniquely moved in each family's situation. It is amazing to hear and even more exciting to think about what God has ahead of us, individually and collectively. It is clearly a diverse group with amazing talent and passion. We are already praying for people that we have come in contact with: Matt and his wife (live here at the apartments, just moved into Wilmington too), Ann and Jeff (moving here from Corning, NY with Corning, Inc.), Hayden and Heather (friends from Windfall where Mark grew up). Please pray with us for these friends.

Also, please pray for us as we transition into southern living and specifically for John and Lizzie, that they would take on this adventure in God's story as their own. We are still praying about a job for me (Chris). We know that God is moving, that we need to wait on his timing, but we are also seeking open doors. Please pray that we follow His leading and wait for the job that fits our family well. We're still hoping that a job at the university comes through.

We are excited about what God is doing here in Wilmington.

We love each of you and miss you already.

It was so great to hear your update. I checked it our shortly after I talked to you yesterday but was unable to reply (likely something to do with my company laptop) but able to get on tonight.
I am so very proud of you and am glad to here of the Lord's moving already and glad to hear of your welcome and getting together with everyone.
I am afraid that I can do little else but be glad to try and do my part to offer up my prayers for you and your people (those in and those coming in).
Today went well as we arrived safely at the Wicks last night and slept fairly well. Today we had to be over at the High School by 11and we were there at 10:30. Hannah and Janet went to a "meet and great" and then parents were kicked out and the girls practiced this afternoon. Both Hannah and Janet said that there was enough 'fakeness' to go around but if the judges look for genuine I told Hannah that may very well be the reason that she is here.
I was typing this as Hannah was practicing some dance steps for the opening number (thankfully I was able to download them from the internet). She was somewhat concerned about opening number as she said she is a singer not a dancer. We have to have her AND ALL HER STUFF (Ruthie was amazed at how much stuff she had to have)(she will be in five different outfits tomorrow) in at 8 in the morning. I have to learn my part tomorrow at 1:00 as I get to escort her on stage. I rented a tux for the occasion (don't tell Hannah).
Thanks so much for taking time to pray for Hannah amongst all the many other things that you got going on.
I trust that things will also work out for Sparky to get a lift lined up also.
Well tomorrow: Anny, Mom, Dad, Ruthie, Helmut, Miles, Lorraine, Pat, Carl and us go see what God has in store for us. It is such a WONDERFUL THING to have a loving Heavenly Father to give all this too, even though we might be witnessed on trying to take it back every once in awhile.
Sent with love and prayers,
Mike

Hey! Glad you got there alright. But I have to say, if you want me to keep coming to your sight, you got keep writing what's going on. At least 2 or 3 times a month.

Just wanted to let you know we are praying for you, and that if you need anything (seriously) let me know.

We hope God does more than you ask or imagine. Enjoy the adventure. It is not easy but it is fun.
